Week 3: A Communication Media - Impacts & Application (II)
Life holds special magic for those who dare to dream. ― Anonymous
MSJ Gourmet Group Private Limited started out from a dream.
It is a small company that was started up in 2012 by two National University of Singapore (NUS) Business graduates, Jacinta Lee and Marcus Soo.
Both of them are food lovers and have found a viable business in Singapore which is franchising a famous Vietnamese chain –
Wrap & Roll – from Vietnam.
Both owners are very young as compared to the masses in the working world, but they have proved themselves to be competent. They have utilised both traditional media and social media to connect to the users on either platforms.
Traditional media includes:
Social Media:
- Apps
- Newspapers (Online)
- Magazines (Digital)
- Flyers (Digital)
Like many other young business entrepreneurs, they have tapped on the advertising power of the internet by carrying out with strategic planning done.
- Define your goals:
As a new brand in the Singapore market, their first goal was to get people to know their brand and bring in customers.
- Define your metrics:
Their success could be measured by the increase in number of likes on Facebook and the increase in average amount of sales over a given period of time.
- Decide on tactics:
In order to succeed, they needed to constantly publicise their restaurant and food, and build a relationship with their existing customers. This is done through periodical food tasting with bloggers, updating their Facebook page and communicating with their customers through the feedback customers had provided on review sites and Facebook.
- Execute your strategy:
Since advertising costs money, they may review on their tactics along the way and measure how effective they had been and if changes are needed. Perhaps if digital flyer is disseminating much quicker than their physical flyers, they may consider cutting down on their physical flyers and divert the capital to their digital flyers instead.
You will find these four steps useful when you embark on your usage of social media for your business too. They can do it, so can you.
Have a happy sunday!

Guten Tag!
Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them. ― Steve Maraboli
HELLO!
Welcome to my COM 125 blog.
COM 125 is a module where I learn things about the internet that I had not known about and this is the little space where I share things about the internet that I learn beyond the classroom through the internet.
The quote above is a good overall learning take from the internet. The internet was invented to solve problems that existed back then and has ever since been continuously innovated to tackle more problems. As a result, it has undoubtedly brought about great ease and happiness to us.
I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and be enlightened just as I had been (:
